Poetic Prose #2
Requirements.
I do not need to be a man to be strong, loving, passionate, hardworking, and relentless.
I do not need to be a woman to be kind, compassionate, optimistic, hopeful, and empathetic.
I do not need to be Indian to adapt, adjust, trust, give everything I’ve got, and sacrifice.
I do not need to be feminine to love others, love candles, love reading alone, and dance like nobody’s watching even when they all are.
I do not need to be masculine to love sports, fight for what’s right, taking pride in who I am and what I do.
I do not need to be a Christian to love above all else, serve people, and lead with love.
I do not need to be rich to be fulfilled and at peace.
I do not need someone by my side to remind me of my worth.
I do not need to be a father to provide, love, and give altruistically.
I do not need to be a mother to cry with someone, listen, and put everyone above myself.
I do not need to be a son to feel scared, and like expectations are impossible to live up to.
I do not need to be an immigrant to fight for my dreams with everything I’ve got.
I do not need…
I do not need…
I do not want…
I do not want to be anyone or anything other than who I choose to be each morning.
I do not need to feel like I need to be anyone or anything other than exactly who I am.
I am Fate Breaker. Child of God. Lover of People. Hope embodied. Never Give Up.
Varuvelil John George Freakin’ John.
