Art Thoughts: Overcome Pornography For Good Podcast by Sara Brewer.
Sara is an absolute legend!
Those of you who know my story and have read my book know how much of a challenge porn has been in my life.
I grew up with no education or understanding of sex or the complexities of sexuality.
Ever since I was sexually abused as a 12-year-old, it has stuck with me and clung to me for such a long time.
I had tried everything. Or so I thought.
And then everything changed when I decided to tune in to her podcast.
Sara’s posture towards this difficulty in my life is so unique and I felt so seen and understood from the very first episode.
There is no denying her ability to create an atmosphere of healing and commitment completely free of shame.
The concept of dealing with the urges and desires in a way that is non-confrontational and one that is friendly and welcoming recontextualized the way I grappled with this issue.
She is unlike any other coach/mentor I have come across in this journey and I could not speak any more highly of her tact, wisdom, and empathy in tackling something I finally realized I didn’t need to tackle after all.
I simply had to sit with it, see it for what it is, allow it space to throw its tantrums and learn to communicate with this God-given sexual part of my humanity.
Even if you don’t struggle with this issue in particular, her podcast, and I’m certain her coaching, is well worth a shot.
Thank you for giving me a new perspective, a greater understanding, and a furthered empathy for my journey, Sara.
No longer a motivated fight/war but rather a permanent commitment to freeing my life from a pattern that I simply do not care for or want anymore.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Sara.
