Fast + Easy
The War Cry of most every new startup and brand these days.
People are becoming more and more obsessed with doing things faster and easier.
Because we all have so many things we HAVE to do.
When did caring for ourselves become a hassle.
When did cooking for our families and friends become such an incredibly impossible feat that we need 12 subscription boxes and 14 companies to enable us to do the basic functions of humanity.
When did pleasure become so lack luster
When did it become so normal for everything to be quick and without any sort of challenge.
We need it now and we need it fast.
In no way am I denying the privilege and comfort of extra fast delivery or things pre-made but how quickly are we as a species creating a step backward in the evolutionary process.
If you are worried about the takeover of technology which in a lot of ways is the present reality most of us seem intent on living out, why would you make yourself so expendable.
Why not spend an hour cooking a meal that you get to savor and in the process of making, relish a few mistakes, errors, and setbacks.
So what if you have to go through an arduous process to get the thing you want.
Is that such a bad reality to live in?
Is it too barbaric to want to plant, harvest, rear, kill, and prepare to survive.
I want my life to be slow and difficult.
I want it to mean something.
I want to fell as though at the end of my time on this earth, I have something to show for the time I was gifted.
Something more than... fast and easy.
Fast and easy initially had a negative reputation.
You wanted things to be slow and well done.
Thought out.
Given love, time, and resources.
This isn't a generalized critique but rather a specific conversation.
Think of the best memories of your life.
I'll give you a minute.
Chances are the vast majority are drawn out and savored.
Don't let the wonderful gifts of fast and easy remove the beauty of the slow burn.
The glorious pursuit of the process and then the product.
You were made for more than fast and easy.
