Decoded: Paddington 2
A technical marvel and an emotional high!
Paddington Bear graced our screens again and made the news when he toppled Citizen Kane.
This film is my comfort movie. It makes me laugh and cry louder than any film has and the animation of the world’s favorite bear is simply the cherry on top, creating an incredibly lovable and daringly bold friend that puts good ol’ Pooh Bear to shame.
Each beat in this film leans into what makes movies what I believe they were meant to be: fantastical escapes from our present realities, elevating us to a plane of emotional freedom and release rarely seen in other mediums.
I love the way this film simply refuses to take itself seriously and I had to catch myself attempting to explain something and simply fall into the blissful glee of the world the studio had crafted.
The soundtrack accompanying this film leaves little to be desired with jovial beats and exhilarating pick ups that prove once and for all that films targeted towards a younger demographic can push adults to the edge of their seats.
The cast of this film doesn’t hold back, either! From legends of the industry to new up and comers, there is a bevy of talent and I am simply amazed by the remarkable ability of these actors to fully believe and embody the given circumstances despite how fantastical it is!
I love this film with all of my heart and will never get tired of belly laughing when Nuckel’s reveals his fist tattoos.
What a film and what a blessing it is to love movies!
