I'm going to start by stating the obvious.
This is the greatest tribute to the power of this story.
I couldn't imagine a better iteration or version of this story I have such a deep, profound, unfailing love for.
I don't ever want to imagine a world without this adaptation.
Seeing more people who look like me in this version will never stop being beautiful.
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay have me hooked right from their first interaction.
The tension, fear, and pain are palpable.
The ability of this adaptation to be so undeniably grounded and realistic in terms of each set piece and emotional lull weaving into each other is magical.
I couldn't help but be reminded of the incredible power of the genre of video games.
I love this episode, don't get me wrong, but there is something about holding Sarah and moving through the world as her father that will never be replicated, and I am in love with how this show has no desire to do that.
It is its complex, layered, beautiful beast, and it knows it.
Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, take a bow!
A special shout out to the production and effects teams who took this world and made it real and unmistakable.
Blown away and can't wait for episode 2.
Beyond blessed to have watched it live with my besties, Nick and Sophia Kootsikas.
Love you, guys.
The story continues, and I'm so blessed to have experienced it.
