9. Design, Formatting, and Illustrations!
I’ve had such a fun yet difficult time working on this project.
This season of my life has been challenging and so darn beautiful!
I’ve felt my heart lifted and cherished in ways I haven’t before experienced and it’s been amazing.
But to have allowed myself to heal and grow has caused me to grieve deeply.
And I am so thankful for it.
FIRST AND FOREMOST, THE ILLUSTRATIONS!
Simple, fun, contemporary pieces that I enjoyed creating and poured my heart into as I read my chapters.
Yes, my resources were limited and, I wouldn’t consider myself a great visual artist, but… I knew I wanted to use my own skill while rejecting the idea of AI as a creative.
Yes, it’s a very useful and important tool that deserves its share of respect but I do not believe in its ability to replace artists.
Because in doing so, we lose the one thing that makes art what it is. Humanity and a reflection of lived-in experience and life.
This book's formatting is meant to reflect all the reasons I choose to avoid a book.
Larger text. More engaging formatting to keep up with readability trends and beats in the work that are easy to remember and come back to.
The designs of this book are done in collaboration with Canva.
I love this software and its never-ending kindness to extend free trials. Y’all are the real ones haha.
I adore this project and am so excited to share it with you all on September 5th, 2023.
Deep breath, my love.
You got this!
